22 Scriptures on Fear & Anxiety

Before you read on, I want you to know that God does not want you to walk in fear. Fear is not of God (2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of PEACE, LOVE, POWER, and most importantly, a SOUND MIND). Fear comes from the enemy. The enemy wants nothing more than for us to walk out of our blessings so he uses that debilitating spirit to decrease our hope, limit our victories, but mainly, to make us give up so that others won’t see the light and goodness of God through us.

I ask you, “What is your biggest fear?” What is causing you to worry so much? What is holding you back from the anointing and talent that God has placed over your life that can bless and change the lives of so many people? What is causing you so much stress that you cannot not even sleep at night? Jot it all down on a piece of paper. Now combat it with God’s truth. Here are some hopeful verses about fear, anxiety, and even stress:

  1. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.” ~ Romans 8:38-39

2. “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” ~ Matthew 28:20

3. “The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” ~ Exodus 14:14

4. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” ~ Joshua 1:9

5. “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” ~ Isaiah 41:10

6. “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”  ~ Psalm 56:3

7. “Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” ~ Deuteronomy 31:6

8. “Do not be anxious [or worried] about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:6-7

9. “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” ~ John 14:27

10. “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine.” ~ Isaiah 43:1

11. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” ~ Psalm 23:4

12. “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” ~ Matthew 6:34

13. “Cast all of your cares [worries, fears] upon Him, because he cares for you.” ~ 1 Peter 5:7

14. “Say to those who have a [fearful and anxious] heart Be strong and don’t be afraid! God will come and save you.” ~ Isaiah 35:4

15. “Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.  Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.  Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!  Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?  Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” ~ Luke 12:22-26

16. “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” ~Psalm 55:22

17. “’For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.  Do not be afraid, for I myself will help you,’ declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.” ~ Isaiah 41:13-14

18. “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.” ~Psalm 34:7

19. “Do not be afraid of them; the Lord your God himself will fight for you.” ~ Deuteronomy 3:22

20. “Jesus told him, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe.’” ~ Mark 5:36

21. “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” …He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.  You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.  A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you…For he will command his angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways…“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.  He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him…” ~ Psalm 91:1-16

22. “I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.” ~ Psalm 34:4-5

I leave you with this:

  1. Whatever is on your mind, give it to God. Again. And again. Go about your day in peace because God’s got you. He is with you in whatever you face, amidst the anxious and fearful thoughts, and the worries of life. He is there, strengthening, helping, and protecting you as He holds you in His hands.
  2. Every time the enemy tries to bring up the lie of fear, you remind Him of God’s truth. The enemy wins when you allow what he says to take root in you. When you expose the lies of the enemy and bring everything that he says in darkness to the light, you are dismantling him. Don’t let fear have its way with you!
  3. God is greater than anything or anyone you will ever face. He gives you the power to live boldly, courageously, freely, and fearlessly in this life, especially when so many things that surround you tells you to be afraid. His truth whispers strong and sure to the deepest part of your spirit, and it can never be replaced. Hold on to His truth daily and remind yourself of it.
