Purity

The Enemy Is After Your Purity

The enemy is after your purity. He will do anything and everything to make you get rid of such a precious gift. Once you make that commitment to God to hold on to it until He blesses you with marriage, the enemy begins to work overtime. God has heard you loud and clear, but so has the enemy. The enemy is the author of manipulation, deception, confusion, and deceitfulness. He will start to make people who you never had any interest in before look good. People from your past will come back. Your DM’s begin to flood with people trying to “get to know you”. Just about every guy [or woman] that you come across becomes someone of interest to you. Has this ever happened to you?

In your walk of purity,

  1. You have to stay close to God. Let God fill you up and comfort you in moments of loneliness and weakness. You have to continuously put on and keep on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the enemy (Ephesians 6:10-18). You have to stand strong in the spiritual battles that you will go through on your journey of purity. God gives us the belt of truth, body armor of righteousness, shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit (Ephesians 6:10-18).
  2. You have to be so mindful of who you allow to get close to you, even if it is someone you knew for years or from your past. Even those called “friends” can make you stumble.
  3. Have a [same sex] friend who can hold you accountable. A friend you can be open and honest with especially in moments of weakness. You cannot walk this journey of purity by yourself.

The enemy is going to come against you hard, and if you are not careful, you will fall. He will make you feel ashamed for walking in purity, and he will also make you feel ashamed if you give in. It is better to go to bed knowing that you are honoring God and walking in obedience than to go to bed knowing that you messed up badly.

My message to you is to hold on to your purity. Even though I am still a virgin, I messed up here and there along the way. I compromised pieces of my purity and I am here to tell you that it is not worth it. The feeling after the deed is done leaves you feeling disappointed, hurt, and broken. I did not want to give the enemy that kind of advantage over me. The enemy needs to know that he made a huge mistake by messing with me. So what did I do when I messed up? I went to God and asked Him for His forgiveness. I did not want to sit in shame, embarrassment, and guilt as so many people do. When we mess up and hide our mistakes, that only leads to negative emotional, physical, and spiritual consequences. But when we expose our mistakes and go to God about it, our mistakes are first uncovered and then covered by God through forgiveness. So even when the enemy tries to bring up our wrongdoings, there is no power in it because God took care of it already. His blood cleansed us and made us whole [and pure] again. Our slate has been wiped clean. We have been forgiven. So if God doesn’t hold our mistakes against us and remembers it no more (Hebrews 8:12), we should follow suit. Move forward every day with this knowledge.

Your purity is what makes you special. Unique. Different. Set apart. You honor God in that and I know that God will honor you for that.
