God Forgives You!
I have noticed all too often that when people sin, mess up, do things that they weren’t supposed to do, put themselves in situations they have no business being in, go completely against what God has said, and/or ignore red flags, instead of going to God, they run away from Him. They cover their mistakes. They hide it. They walk around thinking that it’s all good but deep down, the guilt, shame, embarrassment, and hurt weighs so heavily on them. Is this you? If it is, don’t be discouraged. That’s how the enemy operates. That heaviness that you are feeling is all the enemy’s doing to try to separate you from God. What will help you after you do wrong is by going to God. Expose your sin. When you do that, your sin is first uncovered then covered by God through forgiveness. Light destroys darkness. When you bring your deed to light, it dismantles any and all assignments of the enemy. The enemy hates light so he wants us to stay bounded, but that’s not what God wants for us. God created us to be a light in this dark world.
What makes God so awesome is that He pulls us out of situations that we have put ourselves in and does not hold it against us. He does not treat us as our sins deserve. He does not repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us (Psalm 103:10-12). You need to read that again! And again! And again! That is why I strongly urge you to run to God when you mess up. I believe that God looks more at our heart than our deeds. Of course God was with you when you were doing what you weren’t supposed to be doing but He just wants you to go to Him. He wants to heal you but most importantly, He wants a relationship with you.
Just as God forgave you, remember to also forgive yourself. God doesn’t remember your sin anymore (Hebrews 8:12) so if He doesn’t, why do you? Anytime the enemy tries to bring up something you did yesterday, 3 weeks ago, 5 years ago, or 2 decades ago, stop him. You have the authority too (Luke 10:19). You stop the enemy by telling him that God has already taken care of what you did and has already forgiven you. God doesn’t hold it against you and because He is so great and so powerful, the enemy will never stand a chance. Go forward knowing that your sins have already been taken care of!
